Featured News: Where your perspective goes

Written by Community Team

Once a Featured News story is published, it can travel well beyond news.featured.com. This article explains how syndication works, what publishers must keep when they run your perspective, and what you agree to when you submit.

What happens after a story is published?

Every Featured News story is published on news.featured.com and then made available, free of charge, to publishers across our wire. Publishers can take stories through full-text feeds, our API, or a one-click republish option, and can filter by beat, topic, and location so stories reach the right newsrooms. A single perspective can appear in several publications.

Who can republish a story?

Any vetted and approved publisher can run any story published to news.featured.com. Approved publishers access Featured News for free; there are no licensing fees, revenue shares, or placement fees in either direction.

What must publishers keep when they run my perspective?

Wherever a story runs, publishers must keep:

  • Your name, title, and company on your perspective

  • The Featured News byline

  • The closing line: "Experts featured here are members of Connectively or HARO, Featured's expert networks."

  • An attribution noting the story was produced by Featured News

What can publishers change?

Publishers may trim a story for length, cut whole perspectives (keeping at least three), change the headline as long as it stays accurate, and run the content in their own design. They may not alter your quote or its attribution, present it as their own reporting, add sponsor or affiliate framing, or use your name or headshot in advertising.

What am I agreeing to when I submit?

By submitting, you license your perspective, byline or interview profile for publication and syndication with attribution. A perspective may also be reused in related stories on the same news event for 14 days.

What if a correction or removal is needed?

If we determine a correction is necessary, it is made on the canonical story at news.featured.com and pushed to feeds, the API, and every publisher running the story. A Featured News perspective can be removed for legal, safety, or misattribution reasons.
